Human Trafficking 101 Classes
We host Human Trafficking (HT) 101 at our office, (901 Hollins Street, Baltimore, MD 21223) the second Saturday of each month from 10am – 12pm. Every month we focus on a different aspect of this problem:
December 8, 2012 – The Future and the Past
How does 2012 compare to the past response for human trafficking, what can we expect in 2013? What law enforcement and other agencies have successfully put in place in 2012 and hopes for 2013.
January 12, 2013 – Runaways
February 9, 2013 – Labor Trafficking
March 9, 2013 – ‘The Players”
How the fours players of the game interact to make the Human trafficking enterprise. The Business and Profit of Human Trafficking
April 13, 2013 – Demand
How the buyers make the market thrive – What is being done about the Johns? How can we effect change in the way buyers are seen and handled in our society?
May 11, 2013 – Housing
How is it working and what is available in the area and nation for domestic and international victims. Host Families will it work?
June 8, 2013 – Trafficking In Persons
We will investigate the definition of tier 1 – 3 and the scope of this report. We will define the TVPA and what is being done to support domestic and international victims.
July 13, 2013 – Human Trafficking for the Beginner – The What?, Where?, Who?, How?, and When?
Human trafficking is a complex issue. Because the problem of human trafficking is also connected to issues such as immigration law, labor laws, and the commercial sex industry, human trafficking is often confused with these other issues. Also, misconceptions and misinformation about human trafficking makes defining human trafficking all the more difficult, but all the more important. So even if you know some information about human trafficking, you probably still have questions. We will explore the answers.

September 14, 2013 – Saving our Children
How sex traffickers prey on our youth, signs and prevention
How do our children get recruited and enter into sex trafficking? Why do they stay? How can we help? We will explore the issues with our children and how they are recruited and groomed to be exploited. We will help you to identify the children that are at the most risk and how to help prevent exploitation. We will also discuss the effects of childhood sexual abuse and the need for treatment to help make our children stronger.
October 12, 2013 – Parenting – Disenfranchised Teens
Signs and signals of high risk teens and parenting solutions to help parents before their child leave the home. Teenagers are hard. Parents are not always equipped to navigate through these challenging years. We will explore the signs of and ways to keep communication open with youth. We will help to identify possible high risk behaviors that can lead to exploitation. Parents and teachers will benefit from this session.
November 9, 2013 – No Holiday for Slaves
How does the Holiday season effect the teens and women exploited in prostitution? Victims speak out about their Holiday memories.
December 14, 2013 – The Future and the Past
How does 2013 compare to the past response for human trafficking, what can we expect in 2014? What law enforcement and other agencies have successfully put in place in 2013 and hopes for 2014?
